1.antibacterial effect
Protocatechuic acid has a wide range of antibacterial actions and has inhibitory effects on methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii.
2, anti-cancer effect
Protocatechuic acid can inhibit the metabolism of cancer cells, reduce the invasiveness of cancer cells, promote apoptosis of human breast, lung, liver, cervix and prostate cancer cells in a concentration dependent manner, and reduce the vitality of these cancer cells. These results indicate that protocatechuic acid is a potential anticancer agent by promoting the apoptosis of cancer cells or delaying the infiltration and metabolism of tumor cells.
3. Anti-hyperglycemia effect
Protocatechuic acid is beneficial to prevent or alleviate diabetes complications associated with saccharification.
4, expectorant effect
The mice were given protocatechuic acid ingastric test (4.68mg/ mouse), and obvious expectorant effect was observed.
5. Antiasthmatic effect
The antiasthmatic effect of protocatechuic acid was proved by histamine spray in guinea pig.
6, antivenom effect
After artificially induced cobra venom production in mice, the toxicity reduction effect could be observed by injecting protocatechuic acid, indicating that protocatechuic acid has certain antivenom effect.
