Brief introduction

L-hydroxyproline is a common non-standard protein amino acid. As the main raw material of the antiviral drug atazanavir, it has high application value. Hydroxyproline is generally used as a food additive (used as a sweetener in relatively small amounts), while in medicine, it is used as an intermediate in the Penam side chain in relatively large amounts.

Application

L-hydroxyproline is a natural component of animal structural proteins, such as collagen and Elastin. Several microorganisms producing proline trans-4- and cis 3-hydroxylase have been discovered and used for industrial production of trans-4- and cis 3-hydroxy-L-proline.

Chemical property

White flaky crystalline or crystalline powder. The unique sweetness in bitterness can improve the flavor and quality of fruit juice drinks, cool drinks, etc. It has a special flavor and can be used as a fragrance ingredient. Melting point 274 ºC (decomposition). Easily soluble in water (25 ºC, 36.1%), slightly soluble in ethanol.
