Gravity Concentration If the gold ore has much granular gold (free gold) which can be to recovered by gravity to get a good benefit. The ore is the grinding circuit after the stage of crushing and screening. If the raw ore contains some sticky slime and clay, the washing equipment such as the trammel screen or scrubber should be added into the crushing circuit. Commonly used gravity equipment includes jigs, centrifugal concentrators and shaking tables. The sluice boxes are also used as effective facilities for efficient gold recovery. The concentrate obtained by gravity can be produced the ingots by pyrometallurgy or hydrometallurgy. The tailings of gravity can be pumped to the tailings impoundment or sent to the circuit of flotation, cyanidation or others to recover the residual gold as much as possible.
Froth Flotation The gold ore sent to the processing plant will be crushed, screened, and ground, then the slurry enters the flotation stage generally. Flotation acts to sulfides and free gold normally, and it is necessary to use appropriate chemicals for slurry mixing and gold recovery by flotation. Generally the flotation circuit includes rougher, scavenger and cleaner to obtain a satisfactory concentrate. If the ore contains some free gold particles, gravity separation equipment is generally added to the grinding circuit to recover the particulate gold. If the ore contains much oxides, some gold is difficult to recovered by flotation. It is possible to combine flotation and cyanidation to increase recovery.
Cyanide Leaching Generally sodium cyanide is used for leaching gold from ground raw ore or re- ground concentrate to obtain pregnant solution. Gold in pregnant solution is adsorbed by activated carbon or precipitated by zinc. Usually heap leach or vat leach extracts gold from low grade ore. Raw ore is leached on pad to get pregnant solution after crushing and agglomerating. Activated carbon absorbs gold out of pregnant solution. Gold loaded carbon is processed by stripping and electrowinning to get gold slime. Pregnant solution is precipitated by zinc to produce gold slime. The gold mud is smelted to cast gold ingots after a series of processing: pickling, separating other metals, washing, filtering, drying, etc. The purity of the merging gold ingot can reach over 97%. If purification is required, further processing is required .
