Pramipexole is a new generation non-ergot alkaloid selective dopamine D2 and D3 receptor agonist. It is effective in improving motor symptoms in early and advanced Parkinson's disease, delaying and reducing the onset and extent of levodopa-related motor complications, and relieving depressive symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease. The adverse effects of pramipexole are mild and do not cause complications such as pulmonary fibrosis, but its adverse effects such as hallucinations, drowsiness and sudden sleepiness deserve the attention of clinicians to enhance the safety of clinical use.
