Passivity yaw brake pad belongs to friction materials, which generally used in power machinery, rely on friction to perform the braking and transmission functions of component materials. Any mechanical device and any moving vehicle must have a brake or transmission. The friction material is a key component of the brake or transmission device. Its main function is to absorb or transfer power through friction. For example, the clutch plate transmits power and the brake plate absorbs kinetic energy. They enable machinery and various motor vehicles to work safely and reliably. Therefore, friction material is a widely used and very critical material.

Generally speaking, the friction plate was made from engineering plastics. Based on the original material, DEF also added multiple composites to ensure its high performance.

Friction material is characterized by good friction coefficient and wear resistance, and has a certain heat resistance and mechanical strength, can meet the vehicle or mechanical transmission and braking performance requirements. They are widely used in wind turbines, cars, trains, planes, oil RIGS and other construction machinery equipment. Civilian articles such as bicycles, washing machines as power transmission or braking deceleration with indispensable materials.

Friction material belongs to polymer ternary composite material, which includes three parts:
(1) Using high molecular compound as binder;
(2) Inorganic or organic fiber as the reinforcing component;
(3) Take the filler as the friction performance regulator or coordination agent.

The friction coefficient is one of the most important performance indexes in evaluating any kind of friction material, which is related to the performance of the friction disc in driving and braking. It is not a constant, but a number that is affected by temperature, pressure, friction velocity or surface state and surrounding media. The ideal coefficient of friction should have an ideal coefficient of cold friction and a controllable temperature decline. Because the friction produces heat, the working temperature increases, resulting in the friction coefficient of the friction material changes.

The wear resistance of friction material is a reflection of its service life and an important technical and economic index to measure the durability of friction material. The better the wear resistance, the longer its service life. But the wear of the friction material in the working process is mainly caused by the shear force generated on the friction contact surface. The working temperature is an important factor that affects the amount of wear. When the material surface temperature reaches the thermal decomposition temperature range of organic binder, organic binder such as rubber, resin decomposition, carbonization and weight loss phenomenon. With the increase of temperature, this phenomenon intensifies, the bonding decreases and the wear amount increases sharply, which is called "thermal wear". Choosing suitable anti-wear packing and resin and rubber with good heat resistance can effectively reduce the working wear of the material, especially the thermal wear, and prolong its service life.
