Advantages of flat top tower cranes
1). Reduce requirements of lifting equipment when install and dismantle tower cranes. Because there's no tower head, its unit quality is small, installing height is low, max. Installing height is lower 10m than same loading topkit tower crane. For topkit tower cranes, when assemble hoisting jibs, have to joint all jib frames, pulling rods and other accessories on the ground, then will be lifted compeletely, so that will need large capacity lifting equipment. Because connection of jib tip hinge pins, then can lift hoisting jib to connect pulling rod, easy to cause accidents. However, flat top tower cranes won't have such condition. Hoisting jibs of flat top tower cranes are 4m,5m or 10m per section, take 50m jib as an example, its unit quality is 1/5 of whole jib, can be installed and dismantle in the air, that reduce requirements of lifting equipment when install and dismantle, can save freight of installing and dismantling, safer and quicker.
2). Suitable for tower cranes group cross operation on the same construction site. Because no tower head, cross height can be reduced to 3m when two tower cranes cross operation, topkit tower cranes needs 10m at least. Less time of installing, lower capacity requirement of lifting equipment, less ballastings, smaller tower body and chassis.
3). Suitable for special work sites. Because no tower head, efficient height of hook and space utilization is improved, so are suitable for special work sites, for example, building of airport, tunnel, workshop and work under high voltage, topkit tower cranes can't do that as flat top tower cranes.
4). Suitable for work sites that have special requirements to range. Flattop tower cranes have special connection methods, no tower head and pulling rod, that make it's easy and safe to mantle and dismantle hoisting jib in the air, if need to add or reduce the length of hoisting jib, don't need to dismantle the whole jib, can be finished in the air. At hyperbola ooling tower construction site, usually needs to change range. After finishing of builiding, have to pass min. Bore diameter, usually have to dismantle some jibs, sometimes most of jibs that can let tower crane descend. Because topkit tower cranes will be restricted by pulling rod, only can dismantle jibs outside hook point, it's difficult to dismantle pulling rod, flattop tower cranes can do that.
5). Suitable for construction sites that are restricted, easy to install and dismantle. If present condition is restricted, truck crane can't approach closely, then flat top tower crane is the best choice. Due to special connection method of hoisting jib, easy to dismantle jibs in the air, also can put jibs on the trucks. Because small unit quality, can use tower cranes on the same construction site to install flat top tower crane. In fact, it is easy to be restricted by present condition when dismantle tower cranes, high-rise building with skirt building, because kinds of reasons, tower cranes are at skirt building, after project is completed, it is difficult to dismantle tower cranes because of skirt buildings, truck crane can't be close to the building, it is easy for flat top tower crane to complete the difficult job.
6). Usage of steel structure can be prelonged, high safety level. Due to no pulling rod, jibs of flattop tower cranes are wider than topkit tower cranes, especially height of jibs are higher, so stiffness is stronger, buckling deformation will be smaller. Some customers think it may be dangerous if no pulling rod, but actually, operators from abroad say that flat top tower cranes are more stable, especially when slew or emergency brake, flat top tower cranes are only effected by acting force from down load, is simple, topkit tower cranes will also be effected by acting force from horizontal and up load. In addition, because different locations of trolleying car, acting forces are different at the same location of hoisting jibs that make main stressed bars are effected by pull, press alternating force, easy to crack or welding lines crack. For flat top tower cranes, they aren't effected by alternating force from vertical and horizontal directions, improve usage life of steel structure and safety.
7). Hoisting jibs have good applicability and efficiency. Design of flattop tower cranes is easy to realize modulization, this point is important. For manufacturers, hoisting jib modulization can reduce design and production costs, then can reduce prices of flat top tower cranes; for users, can make full use of agility and adaptility of hoisting jibs, if same types, different grades, hoisting jib sections can be used each other, end jibs of large capacity flat top tower cranes can be used as middle or root sections, so that can increase jib combination, improve applicability and efficiency of hoisting jibs.
8). Decrease design cost. Design of flat top tower cranes don't have design and calculation of tower head and pulling rod, less calculation work condition, simple mechanical model, calculation reduces that make results of calculation is closer to actual value, so that can be easy to proceed modular design, decrease time of design.
