Multi-mode fiber optic patch cord (OM) is a fiber optic patch cord widely used in high-speed network connections. The criteria include OM 1, OM 2, OM 3, and OM 4.
OM 1 and OM 2 have 200 MHz and 500 MHz in the wavelength of 850nm, respectively, and 500 MHz in the wavelength of 1300nm. This means that they can't really reach ten megabits of transmission.
OM 3 is a 50um core multimode fiber with 850nm laser optimized, and the fiber transmission distance can reach 300m in 10 Gb/s Ethernet using 850nm VCSEL.
OM 4 is an upgraded version of OM 3 multi-mode optical fiber, and the optical fiber transmission distance can reach 550m.
