The stator and rotor cores are generally made of D22-D24 silicon steel sheets with a thickness of 0.5mm, punched out one by one with a forming die, and then laminated. The role of the iron core is to conduct magnetism, the inner circle of the stator core is used to embed the stator windings, and the punched grooves of the outer circle of the rotor are inlaid with bars or cast aluminum.

The stator winding is the key part of the electric motor to realize the electromagnetic energy conversion. It is made of various specifications of copper material and the surface is wound with insulating paint, and it is embedded in the stator slot. Three-phase asynchronous motors share three-phase windings, and can be made into several different speeds or different powers according to design requirements.

The rotor windings of small and medium-sized three-phase asynchronous motors are all in this form, and the windings are composed of copper bars or aluminum bars and end rings. If the rotor core is removed and only the windings are seen, it is like a squirrel cage.

The cage rotor winding is divided into: copper bar type and cast aluminum type.

The bar can be a copper bar per slot, and copper rings are welded on both ends to form the rotor winding. In order to save copper and improve production efficiency, the rotor windings of small and medium asynchronous motors are mostly cast aluminum, which is cast at one time with molten aluminum guide bars, end rings and fan blades for ventilation and heat dissipation.

Compared with the winding type, the squirrel-cage rotor has a simple structure, is easy to manufacture, and has strong working reliability. Its disadvantage is that the starting torque is small.
