Physical and chemical properties

Dl-malic acid is a colorless crystal. The relative density is 1.601, the melting point is 131 ~ 133ºC, and the decomposition is heated to 150ºC. Soluble in water, alcohol, slightly soluble in ether, insoluble in benzene. Easy deliquescence. This product is a strong acid, at 170ºC, the pH value of 0.1mol aqueous solution is 2.28, can damage mucous membranes and tooth enamel. Dl-malic acid and L-malic acid are safe and non-toxic. It can be used as a sour flavor agent for refreshing drinks. It can also be used in drugs, cosmetics, cleaning agents, whitening agents and so on.
