Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a synthetic plastic polymer made from vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). A long chain-like structure is formed through a polymerization reaction. During the polymerization process, auxiliary agents such as plasticizers, stabilizers, and fillers can be added to improve the properties of the material.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Polyvinyl chloride resin has high hardness and strength, good abrasion and weather resistance. It has a low density, usually between 1.3 and 1.5 g/cm³. In addition, PVC has good electrical insulation, chemical resistance and flame resistance.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES: PVC resin has good resistance to acids, alkalis and some organic solvents. However, it tends to decompose at high temperatures, releasing toxic hydrogen chloride gas. Therefore, care needs to be taken to avoid high temperatures and sources of ignition when using and handling PVC.

Sg3, Sg5, Sg7 and Sg8 are different grades of PVC resin. PVC resin is produced in different grades to meet the requirements of various applications. The grades are differentiated based on their molecular weight and viscosity, which impact their physical and mechanical properties.

1. Sg3 PVC Resin: Sg3 grade PVC resin has a lower molecular weight and viscosity compared to Sg5 and Sg8 grades. It is typically used in applications where flexibility and elasticity are desired, such as in the production of films, hoses, and flexible tubing.

2. Sg5 PVC Resin: Sg5 grade PVC resin has a medium molecular weight and viscosity, making it a versatile grade suitable for a wide range of applications. It is commonly used in the production of pipes, fittings, profiles, and rigid packaging materials.

3. Sg8 Sg7 PVC Resin: Sg8 grade PVC resin has a higher molecular weight and viscosity compared to Sg5 and Sg3 grades. It is often used in applications that require high rigidity, such as in construction materials, window profiles, and rigid furniture.

All three grades of PVC resin (Sg3, Sg5, and Sg8) exhibit good electrical insulation properties, chemical resistance, and flame retardancy. They can be easily processed using various techniques like extrusion, injection molding, and calendering.

It's important to note that PVC resin alone is not suitable for direct use as a finished product. It needs to be compounded with additives such as plasticizers, stabilizers, fillers, and pigments to enhance its desired properties and meet specific application requirements.
