Feeder protection and control REF615 IEC

REF615 is a specialized feeder protection and control relay designed for the protection, control, measurement, and supervision of public substations and industrial power systems, including radial, circular, and mesh distribution networks with or without distributed generation. REF615 is a member of the Relion product line and a part of its 615 protection and control product line. The characteristics of the 615 series relays are their compactness and withdrawable unit design.

The 615 series has been redesigned from scratch with the aim of unleashing the full potential of the IEC 61850 standard in communication and interoperability between substation automation equipment.
Relay provides primary protection for overhead lines and cable feeders in the distribution network. In applications that require independent and redundant protection systems, relays are also used as backup protection.
According to the selected standard configuration, relays are suitable for the protection of overhead lines and cable feeders in isolated neutral points, resistance grounding, compensation, and stable grounding networks. Once the standard configuration relay is assigned application specific settings, it can be directly put into use
