For optimal performance, the mating surface of the rotary seal requires special attention. We recommend a material hardness of at least 55HRC, a quenching depth of at least 0.3mm, and an unquenched mating surface with a minimum Brinell hardness of 170HB. The shaft surface roughness should be within the range of Ra=0.1-0.2um, while the static groove surface roughness should be Ra=0.3-0.5um.
