N-heptane is an organic compound with a chemical formula of C7H16. It is a colorless, transparent and volatile liquid, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol and carbon tetrachloride, and miscible in ether, chloroform, acetone, and benzene. It is mainly used as Standards and solvents for determination of octane number can also be used in the preparation of organic synthesis and experimental reagents.
