Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing
Silver calcium alginate dressing is a calcium alginate wound dressing with antibacterial silver, composed of calcium alginate, sodium alginate, and silver particles. Silver calcium alginate dressing is made of natural fibers derived from seaweed, and is designed to be highly absorbent. The dressing absorbs exudate and forms a gel-like surface over the wound that supports a moist wound healing environment and keeps the dressing from adhering to the wound. Silver calcium alginate dressing can restrain bacterial growth within the dressing for 24 hours. Silver calcium alginate dressing has been tested in vitro and found to be effective against bacteria such as: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus epidermis.

Product performance:
1.It is the mixture of natural seaweed and calcium ion, and it has good histocompatibility.

8. It is soft and can be filled in the wound, and enhance the growth of the cavity.

Instructions for use
1. Clean the wound with sterile saline water and dry the surrounding skin gently.
2. Choose the right size dressing to cover the wound area.
3. Cover and secure the Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing with a secondary dressing.
4. Dressing change frequency will depend on patient condition and the level of exudates. Initially it may be necessary to change the dressing every 24 hours. When the exudates reduce, the frequency may decrease.
5. Gently remove the secondary dressing. If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline water prior to removal.
Cautions:
1. Not suitable for dry wounds.
2. Not for use in patients with known silver allergy.
3. Not for use on third degree burns.
4. Wound should be cleaned and dried beforebeing used.
5. Alginate calcium dressing should be 2cm bigger than the wound area to make sure that dressing could be adherent to the skin completely.
6. The dressing should not be on the wound for more than one week.
7. When the exudates on the wound become less, it is suggested to stop using the dressing and change to another kind of dressing, such as hydrocolloid dressing.
8. When filling the combed top into the cavity, it should be started from deep end and no space should be left, or healing would be affected.
