Carbon steel wire refers to prestressing steel wire with a carbon content of no more than 0.9% or so. The carbon steel wire used as prestressing tendons in China is mostly high-strength steel wire and cold-drawn low carbon steel wire. Increase the carbon content (> 0.9%), with cold work, heat treatment can improve the strength and hardness of the wire, but will reduce its plasticity, toughness and weldability.
Carbon steel wire (also known as high tensile steel wire) is made from high quality high carbon steel coils after soxhletising, pickling, copper plating or phosphating and then cold drawing. Carbon steel wire is made from 80 steel, which has a carbon content of 0.7% to 0.9%. Carbon steel wire can be further divided into: cold drawn steel wire, stress relieved steel wire, scored steel wire, low relaxation steel wire and galvanized steel wire according to the different requirements of deep processing.
