Introduction
RF Repeater is designed to enhance cellular network coverage and fill blind spots. Main operation of the repeater
is to receive low-power signal from Base Station (BS) via radio frequency (RF) transmission by its donor antenna,
process, amplify and forward the signal to Mobile Station (MS) in target coverage area by its service antenna.

Working principle:
When the repeat antenna receives uplink signals from a subscriber, the signals will undergo processing of low-noise amplifier, filter and power amplifier first, and then be transmitted to the base station, thus accomplishing connection between subscribers in signal blind area and base station.
In this way, the blind areas are eliminated.
Considering receiving signal intensity and coverage size may vary with sites where repeater is located, it is necessary to control the gain and output of the repeater.
Additionally, considering the fading effect in spatial signal transmission, auto amplitude fixing for output is required.
For this purpose, MGC and ALC circuits are included in the uplink/downlink channels.
Installation
1 Project Survey
1) Received Single:
The donor antenna can receive signal of better than - 60dBm. If the signal not good then the REPEATER will not work, and easy to be self- exciting.
2) Isolation:
The vertical distance from donor antenna to service antenna should be at least 15 meters, or horizontal direction from donor antenna to service antenna should be at least 35 meters. Meanwhile the donor antenna and service antenna should be opposite, pointing at opposite direction.
3) Height of service antenna.
It will mainly determine bound of coverage area. At least 20 meters height of service antenna is recommend. It depends on embody condition of the coverage area.
4) Map drawing:
For more visual review, the overlook drawing and sectional drawing is necessary.(to see Figure1 and Figure2). The requirements of drawing are listed as follows:
a) Contour Line is classified by 20m for the Map.
b) Shadow spot as the Coverage Area, the terrain of there whether is very plain with thin trees, single brick and civil engineering structures.
c) Sectional Drawing pls check as next of this overlook drawing in green line.
2 Project Implement
1) Installing of Donor antenna
a) Tools for location
b) The requirement for received signal
Received level for first BCCH: more than -60dBm
Received level for second BCCH: less 10dB than first BCCH
c) Holding up the Yagi antenna just to the space location, you should direct Yagi antenna to donor BTS. Read and write out RX level value, Ec/Io value and PN number List for all PN.
d) Check the data to see if the clause in "b)" above are met. if the clause "b)" aren't met, adjust the space location and direction of the Yagi, untill the clause "b)" are met.
e) You should install the donor antenna in accordance to the space location and direction of the Yagi.
f) To connect the donor antenna to Fixed Terminal with RF cable, and make fine-tuning of the space location and direction of the donor, untill you get best value for received level and Ec/Io. Finally, you must be sure that "b)" clause are met.
2) Installing of Service antenna

3) Adjusting of REPEATER
First, you should adjust the UL and DL gain to the smallest, in other word, the attenuation should be the max 30dB.
Second, you should increase DL gain 1dB by 1dB, untill you get the expected output power. If self-excitation happen, you need to adjust DL gain lower 5dB less than your current value.
Third, to set the UL gain lower 5-10dB than DL gain
4) Calling Test in coverage of REPEATER
